ok, now I've been able to play Crazy Taxi, but the other games don't work.

#2 Updated by carlota.caldeiraover 8 years ago

some games seem to work - crazy taxi works, mario party 4 and metroid prime (very slow). But I can't seem to get Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart Wii and Zelda Wind Waker to work! I've tried different isos and they always make dolphin crash.

What specs are you running on your Mac? I can get some of my games to start up, but within the first 5 minutes or so, one or two will crash the emulator. They work on my iMac, but it has a faster processor.

#4 Updated by CorvosKKover 8 years ago

I've just recently downloaded. Only games I've tried are Wind Waker and Baten Kaitos. Both start with the white screen, and before they even get to the Nintendo logo they crash.

I'm running a:
MacBook ('09 Unibody)
OSX 10.6.8
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 320M

Alright, I'm not sure if this will work for everyone or not, but I erased all of my dolphin files (except for the original ISOs of course) and reinstalled from this link ( http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/downloads/detail?name=dolphin-3.0-osx.dmg&can=2&q= ) and everything seems to be working fine now. Hope that helps someone.

I have also remarked recent crashes at startup with Dolphin, f.ex with ZTP, DKCR etc. which worked perfectly before. I compiled version 3.0-v199 today: I get the following debug window on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 on an iMac 27' Core i7:

celgilles, which revision did this problem first start occurring?

#8 Updated by celgillesover 8 years ago

skidau: I remember testing dolphin 3.0v192 and this was fine, there were some crashes (more than other older revisions) but the last revision makes the game crash at startup (ZTP-US, DKCR)..I will try to compile some older revision this week-end..

I have a iMac 2011, i7 3.4, 12gb RAM, 6970m 1gb, Lion 10.7.2

and Dolphin is crashing just after the nintendo screen on every build from 177 on for GC games at least (have not tried any Wii games. 176 will play past the Nintendo screen fine for me, as well as the 3.0 release.

This could be the crasher revision on Mac OS X..I recompiled some revisions to find out which could cause the crash at startup of games on Mac OS X: it seems that revision 854c4903ebf7 (September 12, 2011) a.k.a v74 causes the problems..all revisions before works fine on my iMac.

'Only link against libav if it's available.'
http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=854c4903ebf7e5236775699616629cc954f75d32

Can someone confirm ?

#11 Updated by celgillesover 8 years ago

Tried several things and after looking at the code it's impossible that revision 854c4903ebf7 could be the problem (since it only modifies the CMakeLists.txt file which is not used with scons..)

#12 Updated by skidauover 8 years ago

celgilles, please confirm that it is from 3.0-177 when this issue first started.

#13 Updated by celgillesover 8 years ago

skidau, please can you give me the exact revision hex number so I will try to recompile. thx!

#14 Updated by skidauover 8 years ago

3.0-177: r1e558aedeb0b (should break)
3.0-176: r3fc5d8d7cf90 (should work)

#15 Updated by celgillesover 8 years ago

skidau: I recompiled both versions (3.0-176 & 3.0-177) and tested it on a Mac Mini (core 2 duo@2.4GHz ) and an iMac 27' with core i7, both running on Mac OS X 10.7.2: on the iMac 27' both versions crashes and on the Mac Mini they work fine!
I've also removed the configuration / preferences / caches of Dolphin in ~/Library/Application Support/Dolphin just to be sure that these files aren't corrupted..but no go..

So maybe it's a driver issue (which I don't believe), or a compilation flag issue (core i7 / core 2 duo ) ?
Please check the crash-log files attached..

#16 Updated by celgillesover 8 years ago

skidau: Tracking the crashes on Mac OS X I've compiled and tested some revisions of dolphin lately (tested on Corei7 iMac 27' with Mac OS X 10.7.2 and ATI Radeon HD 5750. Note that the official Dolphin 3.0 works !

Here are some revisions which are BAD (Crashes at startup) and OK (revisions which don't crash after 'Clearing Code Cache')
Note that I've always cleaned the Preferences Folder (~/Library/Application Support/Dolphin) Dolphin 3.0 works..revision 201 crashes too on startup:

dolphin-emu-78832cb4ea15-v187 = BAD
dolphin-emu-58cbe9cbd939-v156 = BAD

It may be the stack alignment requirements of OSX. Please check these two revisions:

skidau: I tested both versions on different Macs with Mac OS X 10.72:

On a MacMini with core2 duo and nvidia geforce 320m I get NO crashes (even the last revision = 201 works)
On iMac 27' with core i7 and nvidia ATI Radeon HD 5750 game crashes at startup (but Dolphin v3.0 official works)..so it's maybe a compiler related problem ?

Strange. On the release (3.0), the games load fine, but I have absolutely no input controls (keyboard, mapped PS3 controller), but on the builds, I do have input control, expect the games don't load! I know this because I can get as far as a start screen and select 'start' but then the crash happens.

i open the super mario sunshine iso file with Dolphin and it starts until i get right before the 'Press Start' screen and then Dolphin just crashes, this happens all the time.

and it's right when i go through the doorway, the screen goes black and quits unexpectedly

I found a solution! I read most of these solutions but they all didn't work!

You have to delete the entire Dolphin directory from your computer, then open up the application again. The folder it's in is hidden so you have to be able to look through your computer's hidden folder.

Look for:

Macintosh>Users>YourName>Library>ApplicationSupport>Dolphin

And DELETE the dolphin folder with all the stuff, I haven't salvaged my saved files but I think it should be usable?

My games always quit the moment it's started and I just loaded Twilight Princess and dolphin has been restored to default. I had to start a new save file but that's okay. :)

Anyone else tried this?
