Mac OS X-Native Installer Now Available for Diablo II
To better address the needs of Diablo II players on Mac OS X, Blizzard is releasing a fully OS X-native installer application today. Available for download here, the new installer allows OS X users who do not have OS9/Classic support installed on their systems to easily install Diablo II and the Lord of Destruction expansion set from the original CDs. An OS X-native installer for StarCraft is in the works as well, and we will make a similar post here once that is available.

Diablo II Realm Change
We have modified how players receive Mephisto's Soulstone from Cain in Act 4 and the Scroll of Resistance from Malah in Act 5. NPCs will now no longer drop the items on the ground. Players will receive an audio warning if they have no room for the item. The '!' will remain over the NPC's heads until the player has collected the item.

New Battle.net Mail!
We have added new Battle.net Mail Features to Diablo II and Warcraft III. When you register your email address with your account, you can now use Battle.net Friend mail to send emails to your friends. Warcraft III clan members can also send Clan Mail to their whole clan! Players will have to enable mail access in order to receive mails. For more details please go to http://www.battle.net/mail.

Diablo II Accounts Closed
Yesterday, a number of Diablo II accounts were involved with separate attempts to exploit a Battle.net bug; these actions caused game servers to crash on multiple occasions. We took all the servers offline around 7:00 pm PST last night to fix the bug, then brought them back up again at 10:00 pm PST.

In keeping with our aggressive stance against cheating on Battle.net, we have closed the 800+ involved Diablo II accounts. Furthermore, the copies of Diablo II that were used to attack the servers in this manner have been banned from Diablo II Realm play. (See the Realms section of the Arreat Summit's FAQ to review Diablo II's multiplayer options.) Deliberately crashing a server could be considered a denial of service attack and could therefore be cause for legal action under state and federal law.

We sincerely appreciate the Diablo II community's help in identifying any attempts to cheat on Battle.net. To report such incidents, please send an email to hacks@blizzard.com. A false report filed by one player against another will not result in the actions described above.

In Hell difficulty, the fire enchanted creatures corpse explosion now does around 1/4th the amount of damage it did previously. The other difficulties were not changed. Also, the instant death that would happen whenever a fire enchanted ancient barbarian spawned has also been fixed.
